Newton Advanced Fellowship success

Dr. Juntai Shen (Shanghai Astronomical Observatory, Chinese Academy of Sciences) was awarded a prestigious Newton Advanced Fellowship for his collaborative work with Dr. Victor Debattista (the UK partner at UCLan) entitled “Disentangling the Formation of the Milky Way’s Bulge”.

The Fellowship is jointly funded by the Royal Society, the Academy of Medical Sciences, and the British Academy with the aims to promote long-term links between the established international research groups in partner countries and the UK and to provide the opportunity to develop research strengths and capabilities of the corresponding research groups through training, collaboration, and reciprocal visits. The £90,000 UK grant will allow the two research groups to join forces to study the formation and evolution of the Milky Way. The project will allow skills to be transmitted between the two research groups.
