PHD (VIA MPHIL) STUDENTSHIPS IN MATHEMATICS, PHYSICS AND ASTROPHYSICS

Applications are invited for two or more full time or part-time PhD (via MPhil) studentships in Mathematics, Physics and Astrophysics in the Jeremiah Horrocks Institute.  The studentships are tenable for 3.5 years full-time, or 5 years part-time (subject to satisfactory progress) and will cover the cost of tuition fees at UK/EU rates (2019-20 rate pa full-time £4300, part-time £2150) and a maintenance grant (2019-20 rate £15009 pa – pro-rata for part-time).

International applicants may apply but will be required to pay the difference in tuition fees.

International applicants may only apply for full-time study.

It is expected the successful applicant will commence 1 October 2019.

Project Description

The Jeremiah Horrocks Institute is pleased to announce the availability of two or more new PhD Studentships in Mathematics, Physics and Astrophysics.

The projects we offer are listed at the webpage of our institute.

The projects that will be selected depend on the preference of the students who have been ranked highest on the list of applicants (ranking will be carried out by JHI staff based on application forms, references, and interviews of short-listed candidates).

These projects are suggested opportunities offered by JHI staff. If you would like more details or would like to discuss something else related to their field of study, then please contact us directly.

Candidates should have (or expect to hold by the start date) a UK Bachelor of Science degree at 2:1 or above in a related area (or equivalent qualification), or a Masters level qualification (e.g. MSc or MPhys).

EU and International applicants require an English Language level of UKVI IELTs 6.5 (no sub-score below 6.0) or equivalent qualification.
