Studying black holes using the Event Horizon Telescope

Supervisor: Prof. Derek Ward-Thompson

In 2019 the world was amazed to see the first ever image of a black hole in the centre of M87, taken by the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT). Professor Ward-Thompson has a vacancy for a student to support his work in this collaboration. The EHT collaboration is working on many different projects, including the jet-disk interaction in AGNs, the black hole at the centre of the Milky Way, and the effects of magnetic fields around the event horizon.
