I started to work for UCLAN in 2008 as a Lecturer in Computing. Before taking up the position I worked for University of Mancheser as a Researcher on a projects involved Supercomputer Data Mining and Text Mining.

I am originally from the beautiful island of Cyprus. I moved to Manchester in September 2000, having lived all my life in Cyprus. I also did a BSc in Computer Engineering, in Cyprus before I moved to Manchester where I did an MSc, supervised by Prof J. Keane. My MSc compared different distributed mutual exclusion algorithms on a small departmental cluster running PVM. My PhD was in networking supervised by Prof. F. Ghassemlooy. I used some novel methods to improve the performance of the distributed and intelligent antnet routing algorithms, based on the ants emergent behaviour in real life. In addition, I have also developed a parallel and distributed network simulation model which i used to simulate various logical network topologies and traditional routing algorithms on a small cluster.

I love travelling and I get away as much as I can afford (or more accuretly as much as I can convince my wife Dr. Yontem Sonmez :-))) ). Other hobbies includes reading, formula1, playing football/basketball, and going to cinema.
