Our recommended hotels are all to the north of UCLan, from 1 to 5 miles away, on bus routes. Please note that minibus transport will be provided at relevant times for the meetings. Hotels in the very centre of city are of poorer quality or value, but include e.g. a Holiday Inn only 5 mins from campus.
Parking spaces will be reserved on university campus on request.
All costs in Preston including hotels, taxis, meals, beer, etc. are about HALF of London prices for the same service and quality. For example, good beer is often available at < 1.3 UKP/pint.

| Small friendly basic Victorian house hotel, with bar, parking, next to main A6 road north, opposite the beautiful Moor Park, one mile from University. Pay by credit card etc in the usual way. We have
booked the whole hotel (13 rooms) at special rates applicable up to Sept 20th. Quote when booking: Gordon Bromage (University). Special rate prices: 20 UKP for basic single room (shared facilities); 30 UKP for single occupancy of room with en suite facilities; 40 UKP for double occupancy of double/family room with en suite. These prices include full English breakfast. | An elegant Victorian hotel set in a quiet location, in 11 acres of gardens and woodland. Very easily accessible from the M6 motorway at Junction 32. Hi-tech fitness centre, pool, etc. Ample parking. 4
miles north of the University on the A6 road. Very impressive and highly recommended. See website entry for list of facilities. Quote: University of Central Lancashire rates, mention SALT or Gordon Bromage. Usual University discount rates apply and 20 rooms will be held until the end of August. Also worth trying online booking in case even lower rates are available (unlikely). Price per room: 85 UKP Mon-Thur nights, 65 UKP Fri-Sun nights. Max two persons per room, includes breakfast. Note: if you contact them too late and they are fully booked, please contact us for similar hotels in the same area, e.g. Barton Grange Hotel is also highly recommended and has University reduced rates, is on the same road 5 miles from University. |

| This is less recommended, is a standard Holiday Inn, is not at all exciting, but is very central for the city, right next door to the central bus station, huge car park and inner ring road, and half a
mile from Preston Rail Station. Not very good value, but only half a mile from UCLan. Quote: University of Central Lancashire rates. Book online for best offers, which might be lower than the UCLan rates. Normal UCLan discount rate: 59 UKP per night per room, breakfast extra. However, for example currently there are some rooms available for some nights in August at 44 UKP. Max 2 persons per room. |
