Jeremiah Horrocks Observatory on Moor Park, Preston, recorded the hottest May day and the driest 10-day spell in May in its 75-year weather-recording history, since it started recording in 1951.
On May 25th a temperature of 30.9 Celsius was recorded – the first time the 30-degree mark had been exceeded in May in Preston.
And from 21st to 30th May, a total of only 0.1 inches of rain was recorded – the driest 10-day period in May recorded at the site since its records began.
