New research students

The Centre welcomes three new students onto the PhD programme this year.

Jaz Pearson came from Pleckgate High School in Blackburn to study Mathematics at UCLan. Gaining his BSc degree with first class honours, he has stayed on to work towards his PhD with Dr Robert Walsh, looking at the heating of coronal loops.

Hailing from Darlington, Owain Snaith has just completed an MPhys at the University of Reading. During his PhD he will be working with Professor Brad Gibson on the chemical composition of galaxies.

The third student is Mark Younger, who holds an MPhys in Physics and Cosmology from the University of Lancaster. His PhD will focus on developing algorithms for identifying large quasar groups, in collaboration with Dr Roger Clowes.
