Kevin says goodbye with a spectacular JHI lecture to a record audience!

Dr Kevin Bowman celebrated his recent retirement and his 30+ year contribution to the Jeremiah Horrocks Institute with a farewell JHI Autumn Lecture on Tuesday 19th September.

Kevin gave a captivating talk on “Mission to Mars in 3D” to a record audience at the Darwin Lecture theatre, including many children. Everyone enjoyed taking on and off their 3D glasses and getting inspired about the future of space travel. The evening started with an exhibition of a model space rocket, giant globes of the planets along with posters showcasing the research we conduct at the JHI.

Bob Mount that attended the presentation along with many members from the Southport U3A society said: “Dr Kevin’s presentation was the best I have ever had the privilege to see and hear. He put a great deal of effort into every aspect of his comprehensive presentation and delivered it in a relaxed, cheerful manner that was appreciated. His visual presentation, especially 3-D effects, wowed us all…We wish him all the best in retirement.”
